Olivia McDonald from Lemon Tree Passage, a year 10 student at Hunter River High, sees a possible future as a motor mechanic.

“My father is into tow trucks and I enjoy helping him,” she said.

“I’m very grateful for being given the opportunity of work experience at Tanilba Bay Automotive. This way I can see what it’s really like to be a mechanic.”

Meanwhile, year 11 Tomaree High student Toby White has already made up his mind.

“I just love cars,” he said.

“I help my dad and would very much like to follow this pathway in life.”

Principal of  Tanilba Bay Automotive Cathy Murray said that the firm was always happy to be part of the work experience initiative.

“As long as these young people have a positive attitude to the job, we will help them as much as we can. Like the apprentices, they start out with some menial tasks and get to sit in on the more complex jobs with the qualified experts.” “Their schools are very appreciative of the assistance we give,” she said.
