Previous year’s Trick or Treaters

NOW in its third year, a Medowie Community initiative is sure to be another huge success this Halloween.

The idea started with a group of Medowie parents on a Facebook page wanting to create a safe way for their children to enjoy trick or treating on October 31.

Buckets of orange balloons are distributed throughout the community for residents to hang on their letterbox to indicate they are a Halloween friendly house and are happy to receive ghosts and ghouls knocking on their door.

A map is also compiled and distributed to parents on the Medowie Mums Facebook page so children can plan out their night.

The map also has the ability for households to specific the treats on offer at their house, orange for food treats, teal or green for non-food treats or purple for both food and non-food treats, enabling those with allergies to enjoy the festivities also.

Rachael Vaughan told News Of The Area, “Medowie Neighbourhood Watch is proud to organise and support this safety event again, and we’re thankful for our local sponsors for jumping on board.” “We aim to create a safe, supervised event where children can get out and get to know their neighbours and develop some community connections with each other”
“We have so many wonderful young people in Medowie, and it’s important for residents to interact with them and continue building on our strong pride for our Medowie community.”

This year the event is sponsored once again by News Of The Area along with Kate Washington MP, Medowie Gymnastics, Medowie Family and Sport Physio, Flourish Naturally, Neighbourhood Watch Medowie and Zeke Unique.
