Brock Lamont, Council’s Community and Recreation Coordinator, says the new skate parks have been designed to cater for various ages and abilities.

“The Lakeside skate park will be user-friendly, with components for all skill levels, whilst still remaining interesting for more experienced riders,” Mr. Lamont said.

“The Boomerang Park skate park will cater for all abilities, however it has been designed to offer more interest and difficulty to advanced riders.

“The two skate parks will take around 7 weeks to complete and will be constructed at the same time by the same specialised external contractor.

“This has enabled Council to achieve economies of scale and to provide a better end product for the same amount of money,” he added.

Once the new skate park at Boomerang has been constructed, the existing skate park near the Marketplace Shopping Centre will be removed. Council will seek to reuse components where possible to add to other skate parks across Port Stephens.
