THIS weekend will probably be an opportune time to get out the favourite family board games or jigsaw puzzles.

A lot of people will be spending their weekend indoors as heavy rain across the weekend is forecast for the region.

On Friday, the wind is expected to change to a south-easterly direction.

It will bring an upper trough and associated moist and unsettled conditions with it.

Friday’s forecast is for a 95 percent chance of some rain to fall.

The possible rainfall that day of 10mm to 30mm means there’s a 50 percent chance 10mm of rain will fall and a 25 percent chance of 30mm of rain falling.

The forecast for the weekend is even wetter.

Saturday has a 90 percent chance of some rain with a range of 10mm to 35mm.

There’s also a 90 percent chance of rain falling on Sunday.

Sunday’s expected rainfall range of 30mm to 70mm suggests it might be the wettest day of the weekend.

The wind is expected to turn to a north-easterly direction on Monday morning but not before the possibility of a further 25mm to 70mm of rain falling.

Umbrellas and gumboots may be needed if venturing outside or you can just grab a warm cuppa and a good book and stay indoors.
