MidCoast Water was alerted by a concerned resident and was quick to respond.
Brendan Guiney, Director of Water Services at MidCoast Water told News Of The Area, “We were onto the job within hours of being notified.”
“The sewers in this area are gravity fed and there’s also a lot of tree roots that can do damage to the pipes.”
MidCoast Water decided to close the area to swimmers while they took daily samples.
Seven tests a day were sent off to be checked.
“It was a very minor discharge and it was rectified very quickly,” Brendan said.
“We take every precaution and also notify NSW Health.
But no warning was going to stop young fisherman, Brock Roser, visiting Hawks Nest from Murrurundi.
The 14 year old caught two flatheads.
“It took me so long to catch them, I’m definitely going to eat them,” Brock said.
