IN what is a relief for Medowie residents who use the Raymond Terrace YMCA facilities, YMCA NSW has agreed to continue its management of the Centre until Friday, 2 September 2016.

Medowie mother, Thea White, is relieved the Centre will remain open for longer, telling Medowie News Of The Area, “This is good news. My kids started gymnastics at the YMCA last term.”

“They’re loving it and getting so much out of going,” she said.

Many parents have expressed their relief that the planned closure has been postponed, hopefully until a new provider agrees to take over the centre for fitness and activities in Raymond Terrace.

This will give the Port Stephens Council more time to find another organisation to take over the running of the Centre.

The decision was made in collaboration with the Council.

Raymond Terrace YMCA will continue to provide their full range of services and will be operating as usual.

This means that for all current members, memberships will continue to be valid until the new closure date of 2 September.

Some confusion has been created for members who have already been told by the YMCA that no more payments will be taken out for their membership.
