Boomerang Bikes have come to the Hawks Nest Holiday Beach Park in Booner Street.

It works just like a vending machine; all you need to hire a bike is a credit card.

There are eight pushies available, six unisex plus another two suitable for children.

Boomerang’s Rod Lennon said, “You can hire a bike for an hour, four hours, a day or three days.”

Holiday Park Managers Tracey and Ken Moore were only too happy to have the bike hire station located literally in their front yard.

“It’s great for our visitors and the locals,” Ken said.

“We have free helmets available to borrow from the park’s reception office,” Marissa Schutz said.

The pushies also come with a bike lock.

“Unlike other bike hire systems our riders start and end their ride at the same place,” Boomerang’s Rod Lennon said.

“So they always return the helmet to where it came from.’’

“In fact over the past two years over 10 locations, we estimate the loss of less than 10 helmets.”

Rod Lennon said, “The rider must accept a waiver before a bike is released.”

“It states that the rider understands it is compulsory to follow road rules including the wearing of a helmet.”

Like all hire businesses, there’s extra fees if the bike isn’t returned on time.

Hawks Nest Holiday Park’s Ken Moore summed it up with a smile.

“Beats walkin’.”
