It kicked off in Melbourne on 19 May, then goes to Sydney on the 27 May and Auckland on 16 June.

Each brewer is asked to produce a ‘festival beer’ which goes into selection by the attendees to vote for them to win People’s Choice.

With over 170 festivals beers and ciders produced, it’s about unique and groundbreaking flavours to stand out from the competition.

This year Murray’s Craft Brewing Co presents Brown Town.

A Murray’s spokesperson told News Of The Area, “Brown Town is a speciality brown ale, with the additions of coconut, almonds and cocoa nibs at various stages in the brewing process. A rich malty backbone is the foundation of this beer with the three speciality ingredients giving it a unique complexity.”

The GABS festival has been running since 2011 when two beer aficionados organised an event to celebrate craft beer.

It was so successful, that it became an annual event.

Over the years, about 700 new beers have been brought into production.

Murray’s has been in operation since 2006, initially at Taylor’s Arm on the NSW North Coast and later at Bobs Farm.

They have up to 10 craft beers on tap at any one time plus bottled specials.

Murray’s Brewery suffered a major fire last October but managed to bounce back as a major food, drink and special occasion venue in the Port Stephens area.

We wish them lots of luck in the competition.
