The Bulahdelah Lions Club, Show Society and Junior Cricket Club each received a share of more than $1,000 raised through the Community Chest program.
Store Manager Jenny Glynn said customers play a key role in the program, with funds from specially-marked ‘Community Chest’ products pooled to provide the grants.
“Every time someone buys one of these specially-marked products we get a portion back in our chest which we donate to the community,” she said.
The Lions Club will be using the donation for equipment for the Mountain Park and the Show Society will utilise the grant to make improvements to facilities at the showground.
Cricket Club Team Manager Erin Matheson said their share of funding will be used to purchase a gazebo to help protect the young players from the sun.
The recipients of the funding grants were selected by the store, ensuring the money raised locally stays within the community.
“We are pleased to be able to assist so many worthy community groups,” Jenny said.
“The amount of money raised varies each year, but we always feel good about giving back to the community.”
Each the organisations were presented with cheques last week and thanked the Bulahdelah IGA for their generosity.
