After two false starts, due to the inclement weather, Bulahdelah Central School finally were able to run their primary athletic carnival on Friday 17 July.

It was cold, but it was dry, so the decision was made to forge ahead and complete the activities.

The long jump and high jump had been completed, prior to the carnival, during PE lessons, at school.

The day commenced with the 800m which warmed up those students who participated in this event.

The students then broke into their age divisions to commence their first rotation of activities.

The infant students also completed their age races with much cheering and encouragement from the sidelines.

At the conclusion of the first rotation the clouds rolled in and the temperature dropped, so the decision was made to complete the 100m and 200m events only.

The shot put would be completed back at school. I’m sure it was sleeting, but the students, parents and staff soldiered on.

Sally Graham wished to thank the students, parents and staff members for their positive outlook on the day.

“The conditions were challenging, but everyone pitched in to ensure the events were completed.”
