Bulahdelah School Musical ‘Hairspray’, a popular production

After nearly two terms of rehearsals, hours and hours of practice, lunchtimes, sport-time, after school and holiday paint workshops, the long awaited school musical ‘Hairspray’ was recently on stage at Bulahdelah Central School.

Teacher Vanessa Shultz coordinated an absolutely amazing production for the staff, students, parents and local community overall.

Ms Shultz said, “Great teamwork and amazing talent transformed the school hall into the brilliant, colourful sixties, amidst civil rights protests, funky costumes and music in Baltimore USA.”

“The production ran over two days allowing two matinees and two evening performances,” she said.

The talented actors within the performance included Chloe Shultz, Andrew Wood, Kyle Shultz, Kai McNally, Josh Campbell, McKelty Searle, Carl Williams, Ruby Keys, Sarah Rooney and diva Jaimii Gardner-Carrall.

Staff also made an appearance, starring, Heather Moncrieff, Leonie Newton and Hannah Lawton.

Ms Shultz said that Kindergarten upwards were instrumental to the success of the production.

Some of the support included, the Primary Choir, back stage and production roles by year 9-11 students, plus English, TAS and Visual Arts teachers/students – all who helped make a very successful production.
