Dressed in dazzling frocks and dapper suits, the guests gathered at Bulahdelah Bowling Club last weekend for a night of indulgence, cocktails and laughs.

Sheree Robards worked her magic throughout the day, transforming the auditorium into a stunning banquet hall for the glamorous, formal evening.

Show Society President, Gary Gooch, said the dinner dance was held to thank their volunteers.

“It is a way of not only giving back, but it is saying yes, we do appreciate what people do on the show weekend,” he said.

“This is a way of coming together, relaxing and getting waited on for the night, and gives everyone a chance to socialise away from the demands of the show.”

As the cocktails flowed, a fundraising auction provided plenty of entertainment, with friendships tested in the heat of the spirited bidding.

Local businesses donated the items up for grabs, with generous bids bringing loads of cash for the Society.

Gary said more than 150 volunteers contribute to running the show.

“We have a reputation of being a good country show, and it is probably the biggest event that is held in the district,” he said.

“We do get really good support from the locals and from surrounding towns, and it is an opportunity to showcase our district.”

Gary said the Society hopes more young people will become involved with the organisational side of the show.

“We need them to take on roles and responsibilities and get on committees to take executive positions,” he said.

The 2017 Bulahdelah Show will be run from 17-18 November.
