Here’s a Christmas tale of giving and sharing which is sure to touch a chord in everyone’s heart.

Every year, as they’ve done for the past 15 years, Tea Gardens residents Sue and Joe Douglas issue an open invitation to join them for a Christmas Day lunch.

And every year around 70 to 100 people take them up on their offer.

The couple has struggled with ill health over the past few months so they’ve been worried they may not get the word out.

But if you’re looking for somewhere and someone to share your Christmas Day then Sue and Jo have the solution.

“We serve a traditional Christmas Lunch, pork, ham and turkey, plum pudding, fruit salad and custard, ” Sue told News Of The Area.

To finish off the feast, fruit cake with coffee or tea.

The cost for the lunch is just $10 a head.

Sue and Joe, who are both pensioners, get donations and support from local businesses to help put the Christmas lunch together in the Tea Gardens Masonic Hall.

“Last year we had around 75 people to cater for,” Sue said.

“Everyone gets a present and there’s also a lucky door prize.”
