Event organiser, Geoffrey Hamilton, from the Williamtown Rotary Club told News Of The Area, “We are thrilled!”

“The crowd is great and we are using a new PA system this year.”

“We couldn’t have put on this great event without the help of Medowie Christian School.

With attendance numbers well over 2000, local schools and other organisations got in the festive spirit providing entertainment for the crowd.

It was a special evening for one Medowie family, with the Oldham-Smith’s bringing out their four-month-old baby, Cooper, to celebrate his first carols.

Born 11 weeks early and spending the first 11 weeks of his life in the NICU (Neonatial Intensive Care Unit), this event was really special for his mum Kelly, dad Jade and brother Jade and sister Ella.

Among many acts, was Wirreanda Public School and their band, Wirrebanda; Medowie Public School; Medowie Christian School; and Fern Bay’s ‘Women Of Note’ choir led by Music Director, Ms Sandy O’Neill.

Pastor David Deal from Medowie’s Overflow Church, who compered the event, told News Of The Area, “Bringing the community together with a message of hope and putting some meaning back into Christmas instead of the commercialisation that is so overwhelming.”

St Francis Anglican Reverend David “Davo” Davidson told News Of The Area, “It’s lovely to see so many people at Carols and wouldn’t it be great if people took God’s offer of friendship seriously.”

Santa made a special appearance, arriving on the back of the Medowie Rural Fire Brigade’s truck, and was promptly mobbed by excited children and tweenies.

Santa’s helpers, volunteers of the Brigade kept the excited youngsters at bay with a plentiful supply of sugary treats.
