Emilie-rae Hardes, wife and mother of two from Tanilba Bay, has been the Mrs Galaxy Australia for 2017 and participated in a wide variety of community and fundraising events.

From countless charity events and fundraising endeavours through to Ambassador roles, VIP events and balls, Emilie-rae’s year has been run at full speed from start to finish.

She told News Of The Area, “The highlight of this whole experience was being able to meet so many different people from all walks of life.”

“The appearance that touched me the most was spending Mother’s Day at a local nursing home.”

“Honorable mention must also go to my day getting back on a surfboard to compete in the ‘tubes for boobs’ competition,” she said.

Emilie-rae is sad to see the end of her reign, but also excited for the next step in her life.

She has good reason to be excited, telling News Of The Area that she is 25 weeks pregnant with her third child, a miracle baby to be born into her family.

Emilie-rae said, “My husband has an autoimmune disease, and when I was pregnant with our second child, before the Galaxy pageant, we were told it would be close to impossible to have another baby.”

“But, here we are, are we so over the moon.”

Emilie-rae will be travelling to the Gold Coast mid March to meet all the new contestants and hand over her crown.

When asked what is next for Emilie-rae after this new little miracle arrives, she replied, “I’ve been given an amazing opportunity to be able to pick, and be welcomed to return back to some of the charities I have worked with.”

“I find this work very fulfilling, not everyone you volunteer for is a good fit.”

“But for me I’ve been lucky enough to have met some great people and I have some amazing contacts in and outside Australia to explore when I am ready,” she said.

News Of The Area wishes Port Stephens very own Mrs Galaxy Australia all the very best in this next chapter.
