Now in its second year, the prostate awareness event aims to improve the understanding of prostate cancer symptoms so that early intervention may be possible.

“The Fun Day is aimed at families and there will be many activities for people to enjoy, as well as accessing information for prostate cancer experts,” Mr Bromhead said.

“Last year more than $8,500 was raised on the day and around 500 people attended.

The Family Fun Day will be compered by 2RE radio personality, Anthony Zanos and will feature a wonderful array of local talent, including: entertainer Matt Zarb: performances by the Marching Koalas who recently performed at the Calgary Stampede in Canada;

The PCYC’s Gymaroos who will have just returned from competing in Finland;

The ever popular Wingham Pipe Band; and a special appearance for the youngsters by Prime Possum at 10.30am.

There will be on stage interviews with medical urology and oncology specialists. The day will end with the draw of the Monster Raffle, with many excellent prizes valued at over $10,000 including a 3 day pass for 4 people in a pit garage suite at the 2015 V8 super car Sydney 500 race including food and beverages.

Mr Bromhead said he is delighted to once again have the support of eight district Men’s Sheds and local service organisations.

“Forster/Tuncurry Lions Club will provide hot food on the go, while the Great Lakes Hospice will have a Devonshire Tea pavilion with all funds generated by both organisations going to the Prostate Cancer Foundation,” Mr Bromhead said.

“The day will be a great family day and I encourage those in the area to keep the date – Father’s Day, Sunday 6 September 2015 – free,” Mr Bromhead said.
