ALL Medowie feeder schools have now announced their 2017 Sports Leaders for School Sports houses.
News Of The Area will introduce two groups each week of our peer-chosen, sports-minded young people who will lead and guide our schools this year in healthy lifestyle and sports competition endeavours.

This week we have the honour of introducing the House Captains of Medowie Public School and Medowie Christian  school Primary and Secondary.

Medowie Public School has four houses; Wattle, Banksia, Waratah and Bottlebrush.

The sports house captains and vice captains for 2017 are Cameron Hicks, Bonnie Hunter, Bailey-John Brennan, Noah Warncke, Charlotte Anderson, Kia Skains, Mitchell Peck, Kallie Bailey, Mitchell Fielding, Brandon Batman-Blackwood, Clare Zammit, Jacinta Pike, Ben Stanley, Halle Preston and Justin Hough.

Medowie Christian School also has four houses; Hunter, Allyn, Paterson and Williams.

The sports house captains and vice captains for 2017 are: Jessica Lutz, Ned Twelvetree, Connor Witenden, Keira McGregor, Jemima Anderson, Reuben Blatch, Tiarna Chester, William Cook, Alexander White, Indyah Siggins, Malachi Barnes, Kathleen Churchill, Jordan Tumes, Kaiis Doherty and Scarlett Vetter.

Sports captains play an important role in motivating other students and promoting a healthy lifestyle, not just because a healthy lifestyle has enormous benefits, but because sports captains are in a better position than most to influence the younger age groups at their school.

Sandy White, parent of one of the house captains, told News Of The Area, “This is a wonderful role for the students to be active in their school with teachers and students alike.”

“My son is loving the opportunity to help all the kids get involved in sports, and to just have a go.”

“He personally is learning great leadership skills, and it is healthy fun for all.

News Of The Area has no doubt that these young people are ready for the responsibilities of this role.
