Great Lakes Council invite community to Citizen Awards

Great Lakes Council invites you to come along and celebrate Australia Day at Club Forster on Monday 26 January 2015 from 10.30am starting with a FREE morning tea.GLC logocmyk

The Mayor, Cr Jan McWilliams will welcome our newest Australian citizens, present awards to E-Calendar School Competition winners and announce the Sportsperson of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year and Citizen of the Year.

2015 will mark the 100th anniversary of the ANZAC landings at Gallipoli and the annual Mayor’s Award, which recognises local people who have contributed to community wellbeing, will spotlight groups and associations involved with caring for those involved in the war effort over many years.

Some of the recipients include the Korean War Veterans; Stroud National Servicemen’s Association; Great Lakes National Servicemen’s Association; War Widows Guild;  Tea Gardens/Hawks Nest Red Cross; Booral Soldiers Memorial Hall Committee; Tea Gardens RSL Sub-Branch; Vietnam Veterans Association; Bulahdelah RSL Sub-Branch and Bulahdelah War Memorial Trust.

You are invited to join us for a cuppa, welcome our newest citizens and support our many Great Lakes award winners.
