THE newly bannered ‘Grey Fest’ kicks off this Friday with the third annual ‘Grey Nomad’s Cup’ at the Hawks Nest Golf Club.

Organiser, David Gilbert said he is very pleased with the level of interest in this year’s event which already has 116 confirmed starters.

“The event is a ‘four person Ambrose’ which has again been generously sponsored by Palm Lake Resort,” David said.

“Once again the competition will include a battle for the ‘Greys on the Green Shield’ to be contested between Palm Lake Resort Tea Gardens and Palm Lake Resort Fern Bay.”

Mr Gilbert said that there will be a host of great prizes on offer on the day including the Perpetual Trophy and four replica trophies for the winning team plus many prizes for placegetters, nearest the pins; and longest drives.

In total, there is in excess of $1,500 worth of prizes to be won on the day.

The cost of $40 per head includes green fees, a light meal and a drink voucher for each competitor.

But please not this is one event when age is a factor, you must be over 50 to take part.

The ‘Grey Nomads Cup’ hits off at 9am with a shotgun start.

Other Grey Fest events this coming weekend include a ‘A Slice of Myall History’ at the Hawks Nest Community Hall on Friday 6 April from 6.30 pm.

On Saturday 6 April there’s a day of free entertainment in and around the Hawks Nest Community Hall on Booner Street.

There’s a ‘Bush Dinner Dance’ on Saturday night at the Hawks Nest Golf Club.

This year’s theme is ‘Country’ and there are prizes for best costume.

Cost is $49 per person and tickets are available from the Hawks Nest Golf Club.

And finally on Sunday go barefoot bowling at the Tea Gardens Country Club for $15 per person which includes lunch.

And Sunday afternoon Michael Harvey will be performing at St Stephens Church Hall in Witt Street, Tea Gardens cost $25 per person, tickets available from Altitude Travel at Myall Quays Shopping Centre.
