Man charged after girl, 17, was killed hit by car at Brandy Hill

A 17 year old girl has died after being struck by a vehicle at Brandy Hill, 5km from Raymond Terrace. 

Just before 7.30am today (Monday 5 February 2018), emergency services were called to Warrigal Close, Brandy Hill, following reports a child had been hit by a car.

The girl was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics, but she died at scene.

The driver, a man believed to be in his 40s, was taken for mandatory testing to Maitland Hostpital and then taken to Raymond Terrace Police Station. 

Officers attached to Port Stephens Hunter Police District with assistance from Crash Investigation Unit established a crime scene and commenced an investigation.

Inquiries are continuing.

The man (driver) has since been charged.

NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the girl, but she died at the scene.

The driver of the Toyota Prado, was a 42-year-old man from Brandy Hill, and his passengers, two girls, aged 17 and 12 and a 10-year-old boy: they were uninjured.

The 42-year-old man was charged with dangerous driving causing death and negligent driving causing death.

The man was granted conditional bail to appear at Raymond Terrace Local Court on Tuesday 27 March 2018.

His licence was also suspended.
