In August, the recipient was none other than one of Medowie Soccer Club’s own Phil Lavender.

Phil Coaches the under 6 side, and this is his first year coaching.

A spokesperson from Medowie Soccer Club told News Of The Area, “We nominated Phil to give him some recognition for all his hard work this season, with this team of young kids.”

“It was only his first year coaching, and he has done a wonderful job with them.”

Football enriches character, intelligence, coordination and skill and all season long, one brave man or woman steps up to the plate and takes on the task of helping our young athletes reach their potential: the Coach.

As the monthly winner, Phil received a Newcastle Permanent Community Coaching kit consisting of 6 balls, 20 markers, 10 bibs and a whistle, as well as a polo shirt and cap.

Phil’s contribution to football will also be recognised on the NNSWF website network and social media platforms.

News Of The Area congratulates Phil Lavender on this award, and thanks him for working so hard to ensure these young people have a positive introduction to team sports.
