Email us – media@newsofthearea.com.au The Turtles were led by the big hitting Tyler Ostin who made 42 runs off 65 balls including five 4s that helped set the platform for an attacking bowling and fielding session. Tommy Marshall backed up the Turtles’ dominance with the willow and took 4/12 with the red ball off of only 3 overs. Marshall also grabbed the last scalp to finish the match in the 27th Over well before the 35 Over maximum that saw Warners Bay all out for 85. The day saw plenty of noted Nelson Bay cricket loyalists out and about to watch the match with numerous frosted eskies getting a workout as the sun belted down. Out in the middle the early humidity made for a slow pitch, but as the day warmed the track firmed and the outfield began to run. The Turtles’ Matty Palmer and Tyler Austin created some pressure as the Turtles took the ball and the lightning bolts they were sending had the Warners Bay batters opting for a defensive approach with the wood in hand. Turtles Captain Dougie Rowland maintained the pressure with his fielding placements, but when Matt Sharpe went down with a knee injury during a bowling spell it looked like the Turtles could be troubled missing a man. The Turtles maintained their aggression with the ball though and after drinks they turned the vice on Warners Bay and the wickets toppled like the Roman Empire after Odoacer knocked Romulus on the head in 476 AD. Warners Bay were all out for 85 and the Turtles looked polished being able to get the win a man down. Tommy Marshall took home the accustomed silverwater for best on ground for the Turtles while Arwan Alluri snagged 3/15 from his 6 overs with the kookaburra for Warners Bay. The Turtles are away this week facing off against the Premier Hotel Pub Team at Adamstown. Marvellous stuff that!
