THE Great Lakes sporting community is set to benefit from a $100,000 commitment to resolve existing lighting issues at Peter Barclay Sports Field in Tuncurry. Member for Myall Lakes Stephen Bromhead joined members of the Forster-Tuncurry Tornadoes Touch Football Association and Mid Coast Council to announce $100,000 in funding for the upgrade and relocation of lighting infrastructure at the field to bring it in line with Australian standards. “The fields need to be widened and to widen the fields there need to be earth works undertaken and the lights moved,” Mr Bromhead said. Minister for Sport Stuart Ayres joined Mr Bromhead in congratulating the respective clubs who were successful in attracting funding from the NSW Government’s Department of Sport. “From many years of being involved with local sports clubs I know how important these grants are to our communities by providing the opportunity to attract new members and increase participation. “Sport is the lifeblood of communities across the length and breadth of NSW and this funding will encourage people of all ages and abilities to get involved,” Mr Ayres said.
