The Berejiklian coalition has again dusted off their wallet for 2019 and Port Stephens MP Kate Washington is urging local community groups to take full advantage of the funds on offer to build or renovate community spaces and purchase much needed equipment.

“This grant program is a great opportunity for local groups to get funding for important community projects,” said Ms Washington.

“I encourage sporting clubs, P&Cs, residents groups, environment groups and others to apply for funding and bring their locally minded ideas to life.”

Applications opened on Monday 2 September and will close on Friday 27 September.

Some of last year’s recipients included Medowie Community, Preschool, Salamander Bay Rotary Club and Shoal Bay Public School P&C.

Ms Washington is looking forward to seeing more great local projects receive the funding they deserve and emphasised the importance of the role of the volunteers who hold those community groups together.

“I thank the many volunteers who make our community stronger – this funding is an opportunity to support the great work they do,” said Ms Washington.

Residents interested in future grant funding opportunities can contact Kate Washington’s office on portstephens@parliament.nsw.gov.au to be added to her monthly grants email.
