The baby is due in October and motherhood will pose a whole new set of challenges for the Councillor.

Councillor Jaimie Abbott told News Of The Area, “We are thrilled to announce this news which will see us move from a party of four, to a party of five.

“Our 11 year old labradors Charlize and Mika will be big sisters,” she said.

Councillor Abbott is committed to delivering on her role as a Councillor and sees being a working mother as just one exciting new challenge to undertake, she is also a reservist in the Royal Australian Air Force.

She believes that being a parent will bring a new perspective to her role as a councillor.

While Councillor Abbott has always been keen to support opportunities for children and youth she will soon be able to view these opportunities through the eyes of motherhood as well.

Councillor Abbott has already championed an all abilities park for children with disabilities in Port Stephens, recognising that all children deserve a safe place to play and enjoy the environment of Port Stephens.

The team at the News Of The Area wish Councillor Abbott and her family well at this happy time.
