China has hosted the previous two FootGolf Asia Cup events.

The event will be held from 18 – 22 November, 2019.

Eileen Gilliard of Destination Port Stephens told News Of The Area, “We are thrilled that Port Stephens will be the host destination for the FootGolf Asia Cup in 2019.

“Congratulations to FootGolf Australia and Horizons Golf Resort for securing the event for Port Stephens to be the host destination.

“With players expected from 10 countries this is a great opportunity to showcase Port Stephens and Horizons Golf Resort internationally”, she said.

The Asia Cup will see the best FootGolf talent in the Asia Pacific region on display, with a chance for our Australian players to show their skills on home turf.

Players will be competing for individual honours and in a team event covering Mens, Ladies and Seniors divisions.

“The flow on benefits from Port Stephens hosting the FootGolf Asia Cup in 2019 will have a positive impact generating promotion as well as social media engagement and personal recommendations which are strong drivers to generate visitation to the destination”, Eileen added.

FootGolf is a combination of the popular sports of football (soccer) and golf.

The game is played on a golf course, using a regulation #5 football.

Number 1 Ranked FootGolf player in the World Martias Perrone will be Tournament Director.

Head of FootGolf Australia Leonardo Fernandez said “It is a tremendous result for Australia securing host country, and players will certainly be challenged on the 36 hole championship FootGolf course at Horizons Golf Resort. We are expecting players from 10 countries”.

Equally thrilled, Chairman of Horizons Golf Resort Selva Saverimuttu said “We are excited to be the host course for the Asia Cup.

“FootGolf has been very successful at our course particularly with engaging with the broader community. With the Asia Cup we hope to help promote the sport at a national level”.

Since its inception in 2009, FootGolf has expanded around the world and is played in over 40 countries.
