After attending the Peter Sinclair Gardens official opening, Dr Gillespie headed across to Anzac Park to see one of three brand new shiny bubblers complete with a dog bowl which now grace Marine Drive.

The grant was also used to provide another covered seating shelter near Hook ’n Cook and cycle racks along Marine Drive.

The Myall River Foreshore Group and MidCoast Council were all involved in the project.

It was also a chance for News Of The Area to catch up with the Assistant Health Minister on a number of issues.

The High Court action involving his ownership of a retail store housing an Australia Post franchise in Port Macquarie is still ongoing.

“Further directions should be coming up within the next month,” Dr Gillespie said.

News Of The Area also asked Dr Gillespie if he had checked his family heritage given the controversy surrounding so many Federal MPs.

Dr Gillespie said with a laugh, “I go all the way back to the Second Fleet, back in the 1830s there was an Irish soldier and the other side are English convicts, I think I’m good.”

Dr Gillespie then headed off to a meet and greet with around 40 locals at the Tea Gardens Baptist Church.

‘We call them listening posts and I will continue to do them across the region on regular basis.”
