Teen arrested following spate of robberies in southern Sydney

Police have arrested and charged an 18-year-old man following a spree of break and enters in Sydney’s south.

Late last month, detectives from Bankstown Local Area Command commenced an investigation into nine separate break and enters into properties and five thefts from motor vehicles, all of which occurred in Padstow between 3am and 6am on Saturday 29 November 2014.

Inquiries into the matters resulted in detectives identifying a number of other offences that appear to be linked to the Padstow incidents, including:

– Three break and enters into properties and one theft from a car, all of which occurred at Monie Avenue, East Hills, on Friday 5 December 2014; and,

– A break and enter into a property at Blakehurst on Saturday 1 November 2014, which resulted in a motor vehicle, a wallet and other items being stolen.

Around 5pm yesterday (Thursday 11 December 2014), police attended a property on Iluka Street in Revesby, where they arrested an 18-year-old Penshurst man.

The man was taken to Bankstown Police Station, where he was charged with numerous offences including:

– Three counts of dishonestly obtain property by deception;

– Aggravated break and enter;

– Enter property with intention to commit indictable offence; and,

– Two counts of entering a vehicle without the consent of the owner.

Refused bail, the 18-year-old is expected to appear in Bankstown Local Court today (Friday 12 December 2014).

Detectives are continuing to investigate the spate of robberies and encourage anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers.
