TOMAREE High School in conjunction with the Real Futures Foundation has launched a gofundme campaign to raise $2000 to put a roof on its new barbecue shelter.

The shelter was constructed last year by pupils as part of a project that began with a $3000 grant from the Council that managed to grow to $20,000 with the generous support of local businesses.

This was a welcome addition to the Indigenous garden and fire pit with seating area.

Given the recent bad weather, a roof is needed more than ever.

Nobody wants a soggy sausage sizzle.

The fund is seeking donations from parents and members of the community to contribute any amount they can.

Any donation over $2 is tax deductible.

The money will be used to purchase a Colorbond roof and professional labour, due to restrictions for pupils on working at heights.

Students can assist with labour work on the ground.

The Real Futures Foundation is a charity that works with disengaged pupils at Tomaree High School and St Philips.

It is solely based in the Port Stephens area.

Working on the project has given the students a sense of pride and accomplishment and teamwork skills.

The Foundation is also seeking local businesses that would be interested in sponsoring its work.
