COMMONLY referred to as “The Farm” by Tanilba Bay residents, the bushland site is being given a makeover thanks to the Aboriginal Land Clean Up and Prevention Program (part of the NSW EPA Waste Less Recycle More initiative).
The Worimi Local Aboriginal Land Council’s Green Team is clearing illegal dumping and undertaking weed control in an all-out effort to restore the important heritage area.
The three year project has been designed to fit in with the existing network of illegal dumping management techniques employed by the NSW EPA and includes installing information signs and erecting or mending fences to restrict access to the site.
“The Farm has a long history of illegal dumping and we have already removed over one tonne of illegally dumped waste,” project Manager of the Green Team Richard Kime said.
“The LALC has a large land portfolio of natural sites, all of which contribute to the biodiversity of the region. The ongoing management of these sites provide a valuable asset to our members and the broader community.”
