THE local footy season kicked off last weekend but sadly without a Myall River Juniors team.

The call went out for more players but they came up three short.
“It’s sad considering it would have been their fifth season and they were minor and major premiers only two seasons ago,” Ngaire White said.
It’s very disappointing as well for the four local players who were chosen to play for Port Stephens in the recent Zone competition.
Dom Lagudi, Lilly White, Sophie Frazer and Tye Carter spent two weeks travelling back and forth to Tanilba Bay for training.
Then it was off to Salamander Bay for the Zone Competition joining around 100 other youngsters all vying for a spot in a Regional team.
‘’The kids played great, they played three games, first one went down two tries to one, second game they drew and third game they won, one try to zero,” Ngaire said.
“Tye Carter played a fourth game in a make up team on the day against Cessnock.”
“No one made it to the possible or probable but they all enjoyed being out on the field playing rugby league again.”
