The NSW Office of Environment and Heritage, in conjunction with local Councils, has launched a community survey aimed at collecting information direct from community members relating to their experience of the recent flooding.

Office of Environment and Heritage, Water, Floodplains and Coast’s Senior Team Leader, Peter Evans, urged those affected by the floods to take the time to complete the survey.

“The information we collect will be invaluable in quantifying future flood risk and developing plans to manage risk from flooding,” Mr Peter Evans said.

“In some areas, the flooding was the worst on record, so it is important that we capture as much information about the event as possible.”

To help capture the data, an easy-to-use online survey has been setup, while printed forms will be made available from Great Lakes Council.

Community members can find the online survey by going to: www.surveymonkey.com/r/April_2015_Hunter_Floods.

“This survey enables community members to detail their flooding experience and to send us photos they may have captured during the event, or provide other information, such as rainfall figures they may have recorded,” Mr Evans said.

All personal details provided will be kept confidential.
