The final of the Minor Singles was played by Bev Rhodes and Karen McPhie in sunny and warm conditions on 18 October. Bev made a very strong start to the game leading 16 to 6 at the 15th end.

Karen then played to equal Bev and then take the lead at 20 to 16 at the 24th end.
Bev again played well to gain the lead at 22 to 20.

A few ends later, Karen came back with 23 to Bev’s 22.
Bev then picked up another shot to lead 24 to 23, only needing one more shot to reach 25.
Bev then rolled 2 shots to take the game out with a score of 26 to Karen’s 23.
What a game – The crowd enjoyed a great finish!

A thoroughly well-deserved win to Bev after 10 years of Minor Singles competition.

The social game was won by Bette Saillard, Elke Jones, Vicki Rankin and Maynie Robert being the winners with the lowest score.

Lemon Tree Passage Bowling club visited Tea Gardens Women’s Bowling Club on 20 October, they began with morning tea and a welcome for the annual competition for the Challenge Trophy.

This competition began in 2014 with the secretaries of the two clubs, Annette Davis and Vicki Rankin, initiating this wonderful event.

The competition was played with six teams of four from each club.
Play commenced for 21 ends with an excellent result for Tea Gardens.

Rink 1 led by skip Liz Kelly won 25 to 20 while on rink 2 Lemon Tree Passage led by L Jordan outplayed Tea Gardens in a very exciting game with scoring 22 to 19.

On rink 3 Tea Gardens won handsomely with a score of 32 to 10 while on rink 4 the Tea Gardens team led by Loretta Baker won 21 to 14.

The game on rink 5 was won by Tea Gardens 27 to 11 led by Maynie Roberts.
The highest margin win was 36 to 12 by Tea Gardens!

A great team win skipped by Deyonne Page.
This led to a tremendous board win of 160 to 89 to Tea Gardens.

Afterwards a lovely lunch of lasagne and pavlova was followed by the raffles draw and the presentation of the Challenge Trophy.
Next year we look forward to attending the Challenge Trophy day at Lemon Tree Passage. Congratulations to Tea Gardens Women’s Bowling Club!
