Organised by the Hawks Nest/Tea Gardens Progress Association, the ‘Meet the Candidates’ will be run along the lines of ‘Q and A’ with MidCoast Councillor Len Roberts acting as an independent moderator.

All topics are up for discussion, but the public is being called on to ask just one question of the candidates to keep the evening moving along.

“I’m really looking forward to meeting with the community to answer any questions they might have,” Kate Washington told News Of The Area.

“I’ve really enjoyed being the local members here, it’s such a beautiful community to represent, and the feedback I get is that I’ve been a good local member, but I feel, that it is because the community has connected with me and allowed me to be the best member I could be for the area.”

“From my conversations with people across the electorate it is pretty clear that they are fed up with politicians talking about politics and political games, rather than things that actually matter,” Jaimie Abbott said.

“What I believe can be done is to dedicate myself to working hard every day, listen to the local voices, and focus on their needs and concerns,” Ms Abbott said.

She added, “I have committed myself to being the voice of my community, and if elected, I will continue to tirelessly get out and listen to people every day.”

“Meet the Candidates” is being held over two nights, Labor’s Kate Washington will be at the Tea Gardens Baptist Church on Thursday 28 February at 6pm.

Jamie Abbott’s evening with the community on Thursday 7 March again at the Tea Gardens Baptist Church at 6pm.
