The packs include queen size comforter set, fleece blanket and flannelette sheet set, plus two sets of the above for single beds. Finance officer Pauline Troon told News Of The Area, “The organisation felt that we could do more this year for those who struggle through the winter months, and by providing an extra full set we can help another family, of course the packs can be split up, it is up to the charity to decide the best way to distribute them.” The Yacaaba Centre, St Vincent De Paul Society, Salvation Army and All Saints Op Shop were the recipients this year. Sue Hughes, St Vincent De Paul Conference member said, “Special thank you from us, for the kind donations, the packs will certainly help those in need of warmth this winter.” The Action Club is available to offer assistance with small jobs, an initial assessment, which determines the need, and if the Club has the necessary resources and expertise to assist, if not, they will do their utmost to redirect to the appropriate organisation. Pauleen would like to make special mention to Target Salamander Bay store manager Carolee Woods for the financial support and assistance with online ordering and seamless collection of bedding. The Action Club is funded primarily through their candy floss machine. They attend fetes, sporting events and fundraisers, and with a percentage of takings going directly to the organising group, and the remainder going towards funding local amenities such as exercise equipment in parks, they are locals supporting locals. Next meeting will be held at Rockpool, 27 June from 6.30pm. More information can be obtained from Gary Troon, 0407 968 931. By Mandy ELLIS
