FOR over 28,000 Year 12 students living in regional NSW, access to quality subject-specific resources for their HSC is often very difficult.

HSC in the Holidays aims to assist with the resource gap by conducting live events at a range of campuses including the University of Newcastle (UON) during holiday periods.

The program has operated for the past 11 years and includes a range of subject-specific lectures across 18 different subjects.

For the first time, HSC Help is being offered to students in regional NSW to gain access to these lectures during the July holidays via a live streaming service.

Year 11 and 12 students can view high definition video that is broadcast live during these lectures.

As part of the program, a free lecture titled ACE the HSC will also be streamed live on HSC in the Holiday’s Facebook page on Monday 3rd July (10am-12pm).

Program director Shane Hardcastle told News Of The Area, “Each lecture is designed specifically to increase student knowledge and skills prior to the HSC Trial Exams in Term 3.”

Each two-hour session is presented by highly experienced HSC teachers/markers and will addresses important information including key content from core topics and strategies to maximise marks

The sessions also provide insights into what HSC markers are looking for within responses and how to respond to a range of HSC questions including the provision of worked answers.

Former program participant Michael Laden participated in an English course and said the program really helped him in that area.

Michael told News Of The Area that the program was beneficial due to getting help from more people and more ideas [about] how to tackle the questions in the HSC.

“I did receive tons of material that I used when studying for the final exam, so I would highly recommend students participate in this course,” Mr Laden said.

Michael Laden has just completed his first semester at the University of Wollongong studying Bionanotechnology.
