The event is designed to bring together the entire community to celebrate the past, present and future of Boomerang Park.

Attendees will enjoy lantern-making, night skateboarding, an exhibition of the park’s history, and a glow room, with an exciting fireworks finale.

Illuminate is a participatory event, with opportunities for everyone to get involved.

There are free lantern-making workshops happening across Port Stephens schools from the Tomaree Peninsula to the western region of the LGA.

Greater Bank’s Chris Baguley said, “Our support of this event . . . is more than just financial.”

“Greater Bank staff from our four Port Stephens branches will be involved in the lantern-making classes with school children across the area.”

Penny Amberg, Council’s Integrated Strategic Planning Manager, told News Of The Area, “This event is building and investing in the community of Port Stephens with the community driving it for themselves with Council’s support.”

“We are delighted to have two fantastic sponsors in the Greater Bank and McDonald Jones Homes giving us the financial resources to deliver a great event.”

“We are already seeing groups from the community wanting to be involved,” she said.

Victor Jones, Raymond Terrace RSL Sub-Branch President, said “The festival will also celebrate the history and significance of the park to Raymond Terrace.”

“Illuminate is a great opportunity for the community to reconnect with Boomerang Park.

“It’s a wonderful community asset which has played a significant role in the history of our town for over a century,” he said.

Mark 18 November in your calendar and head to Boomerang Park to enjoy a festival for the whole community of Port Stephens.

  1. I am wondering why the Tilligerry Fun Festival is not mentioned in these stories. We have been planning our festival all year only to find out last month this was on the same weekend as ours. Our festival has been running for many years and no consultation with us has taken place. Just don’t understand how this could happen in a LGA?
