TWO local residents have come up with a great concept for people wanting to increase and/or maintain their personal best in a friendly, fun environment whilst walking or running 4.5km along the banks of our picturesque Myall River.

David Brailey, one of the organisers, told News of the Area, “I was encouraged by my son who participates in a run in the park in Sydney for three to four weeks in a row and then offers his time as a volunteer.

“Our walk or run is more informal than what my son is doing.”

The free walk or run has the following suggested route which will commence on the corner of Marine Drive and Hough Street proceeding along the riverfront across the Singing Bridge along Moira Parade as far as Peter Sinclair Gardens and return.
Participants are free to walk or run at their own pace and do not have to complete the full course with the idea being that this activity is more about getting out on a Saturday morning, being involved and enjoying the lovely Myall River.

The walk or run is open to all ages and fitness levels and will occur every Saturday morning starting between 8.00am and 8.30am, weather permitting, commencing on Saturday 6 July 2019.

This date is the start of the school holidays and visitors are more than welcome to participate in this activity.

On arrival, if participants wish to be timed, they will need to register their name with a volunteer who will record the starting time.

Likewise, when walkers/runners return to the start line, the volunteer will record the finishing time and provide walkers/runners with their results which will be recorded from week to week if that is what they would like.

Organisers, David Brailey and Ron Sunderland , are calling for volunteers to assist in their new concept of fitness on the waterfront and beyond, so if you would like to become a volunteer or participate in the walk or run, contact David on 0413 057 357 or Ron on 0402 246 383 or just turn up on the day.
