THE Probus Club of Port Stephens is a mixed gender membership base for retired or semi-retired singles and couples who enjoy fun, friendship and fellowship.

Probus is a worldwide organisation that originated in the United Kingdom in 1965.

The first Probus Club in Australia was formed in 1976.

Nelson Bay has its very own vibrant and active community of Probus members.

Many activities and events are organised for those who want to make new friends with similar interests.

Activities include BBQ’s, movie nights, dining out, a walking group and social bowls.

“Some of our favourite outings include Snooker for the men, Cara-Campers, Fun Golf, Croquet, and special ladies functions,” Secretary Anne Gibson, told Bay News Of The Area.

“There is always an interesting guest speaker at our monthly lively meetings and it is a great opportunity to meet lots of lovely and friendly people,” said Ms Gibson.

“We have 130 members in the Nelson Bay area and have a walking group that meet twice monthly for a chatty relaxed time, always finishing with coffee and cake,”she said.

An invitation is extended to attend a club meeting on the second Thursday of each month 9.30am at The Nelson Bay Bowling Club.

  1. My husband & I are retired we have had properties in the Bay Area for 25 plus years. Plus and we now live in Corlette where we’re allowed to have our pets. Yes we miss the view to the headland / Ocean but now we overview the. Anchorage. And beach
