There are certain times every day in the Myall Coast region where some people have a totally different approach and perspective to what they are looking at, and capture the moment perfectly for the world to enjoy and be inspired.

One Tea Gardens photographer has been doing just that for just over 12 years and has built a very healthy fan base for his works capturing nature at its absolute finest.

Glen Henry, from Tea Gardens, has been ‘dabbling’ in photography since 2004 where the photos he took during a trip to Broome in W.A, and the landscapes of the area, kindled an interest in professional photography and his passion continues to grow today.

Having seen many of Glen’s sensational images, Myall Coast News Of The Area couldn’t help but ask him about how he started, how did he learn his art and whether he has received any awards for his chosen profession.

Glen said, “I am self taught, with a lot of help by researching other photographers techniques on You-Tube and completing some tutorials that are available on the internet.”

“I have taken my photography a lot more seriously in the last few years, and looking forward to showcasing our beautiful environment to the wider community so it’s not taken for granted,” he said.

Asked whether he has received any awards for his works, Glen said, “I have never received any awards or prizes for my work , I’m not really into that side of things. I have had some good recognition from peers and now have had some exposure on NBN 9 weather shots, 18 of my images have been shown during the weather segment on NBN News so far.”

For aspiring photographers Glen offered the following advice, “Some tips for aspiring photographers, don’t concentrate on equipment, concentrate on technique and composition, most important.”

“The camera I use is a Nikon D7100 with Tamron and Sigma lenses, it’s a good mid range kit. I use Nikon software and Photoshop for editing. as sparingly as possible, unless it’s an ‘arty piece’ which I occasionally fiddle with,” he said.
