THE NSW Government is calling on councils and residents to nominate community infrastructure projects for funding through the first round of the Stronger Country Communities Fund.

The funding will support local projects such as upgrades to community facilities and playgrounds including building or refurbishing libraries, parks, walking or cycle paths, health centres and halls.
Member for Myall Lakes, Stephen Bromhead, has held two information sessions for community groups and strongly encouraged residents to identify proposals that meet local aspirations.
“The Stronger Country Communities Fund is a once-in-a-generation investment,” Mr Bromhead said.
“I am really looking forward to seeing the proposals that come forward and the benefits they will bring to our Country and Coastal communities.”
Mr Bromhead said the fund will support projects between $100,000 and $1 million, or higher with financial co-contribution.
President of Bulahdelah Lions Club, Arthur Baker, attended the recent information session held at Taree and said the funding will greatly benefit communities.
“I think this funding round has the potential to allow us to complete the bigger projects in our town like the Mountain Park Development and the Mountain Tourist and Aboriginal Development,” he said.
“Many groups have been working jointly on these projects and we now have the chance to apply for funding to make these bigger and better than what we originally planned.”
Community groups are encouraged to speak to their local MP about potential projects that will strengthen the regional communities of NSW.
The Stronger Country Communities Fund is part of the NSW Government’s $1.3 billion Regional Growth Fund, designed to improve economic growth and productivity with investment in regional communities.
MidCoast Council will lodge applications, which close on 13 September, on behalf of organisations.
