Bowraville students take to High Street for Easter Hat Parade

LAST Tuesday saw Bowraville Central School out in colour for their annual Easter Hat Parade.

The local community lined High Street to cheer students, teachers and carers as they marched along in their brightly coloured hats.

Bowraville Central School students waved as their numbers swelled with students from St Mary’s Bowraville,

Bowraville Community Preschool and Tallowood Steiner Preschool.

Hats on display were amazing featuring easter eggs, bunnies, little nests, and bunny ears.

“Hats were decorated at home, but the children had spent many weeks learning dances and making contraptions for the annual ‘Egg Drop’ after the parade,” said Megan Cochrane, Bowraville Central School’s Community Liaison Officer.

This is the first Easter Parade the school has organised since Covid-19 put a stop to group gatherings, and people being welcomed into the school.

“We are very happy to be able to welcome the community back into our school, it’s been a long time coming with Covid-19.”

“The Easter Parade has always been an annual event for the school, and I’m very proud of the students and staff of our school,” said David Taylor, Bowraville Central School’s Executive Principal.

After the parade children returned to the school with parents and staff for afternoon dancing and Easter activities, and the traditional ‘Egg Drop’ competition, the first since Covid-19 hit.

The ‘Egg Drop’ competition is where students make egg contraptions that will cushion eggs when dropped, and great fun was had by all present.
