Branch President of Coffs Harbour Labor, Tony Judge, believes this initiative is vital for a healthy democracy and a thriving region.

“These upcoming events are a great step forward in bringing diversity and progressive representation to Coffs Harbour and surrounds,” Mr Judge said.

“We want to foster an environment where young people can find a place to voice their opinions, push for change, and reignite optimism in their relationship with politics.

“I am looking forward to meeting face to face with all attendees so that together we can explore the things that matter to young people in our region.

“Young people are greatly affected by government decisions. I want them to have a greater say in those decisions.”

Coffs Harbour Labor member Michael Kemeny-Packwood added “These events will be an opportunity for us to hear directly from local youth about what matters to them.

“The youth have been sidelined for too long and we want this event to be the first in a series that seeks to empower, connect and plant the seeds for healthy engagement that will last well into the future.”

Mr Kemeny-Packwood said that Coffs Harbour Labor wants to build on the insights and experience of young people and offer them a seat at the table with members to grow a dynamic branch, party, and country.

“Tides of political change are sweeping the nation and the time is now right for the youth of Coffs Harbour to give up ‘good’ so together we can pursue ‘great’,” he said.

The first meeting will be at 7pm on Monday, 5 September at the Plantation Hotel.

Events will take place at 7pm on the first Monday of the month.
