For 34 years he successfully ran Thrifty Link Hardware in Tea Gardens before selling the premises late last year.

“I’ve absolutely loved being in Tea Gardens but the days of small business are numbered and it was the right time to sell,” David said.

Since finishing up with Thrifty Link David has branched out into his own blind business, Simply Smarter Blinds.

“I’ve been measuring, quoting and installing blinds since 1985 through the hardware store and I’m continuing that on now,” he said.

“I’ve always concentrated on customer service and that’s flowing through to my new business.”

Simply Smarter Blinds provides a seven day service to all of Port Stephens and surrounding areas from Tea Gardens Hawks Nest, Bulahdelah, out to Stroud, Raymond Terrace, Clarence Town and Seaham.

“I’m used to working seven days and I know that some people only have time on the weekends,” he said.

David is working as a showcase dealer for the market-leading window covering brand Luxaflex and offers a complete range of Luxaflex innovations in window covering solutions from around the world.

“There’s a lot of out of the ordinary products we can provide,” he said.
