Eilish-Rose Battle decided that 2015 would be the year she would help people in need and thought taking part in the The World’s Greatest Shave would be a great way to do that.

“I’ve really wanted to do it since I was about 10,” she said.

“I am not walking that path myself but this is something that I have held close to my heart for quite a few years now. There are many people out there quietly facing Leukaemia.”

An extra push to do the challenge came from family friend James Perry of Nerong whose brother is suffering Leukaemia.

“His younger brother is now going through his sixth dose of chemotherapy to hopefully go back into remission to enable him to have a bone marrow transplant which he needs to survive.”

Eilish-Rose, who works at Coles, Tea Gardens, will have her head shaved outside the store at 11am on Sunday 15 March. Her hair will be cut by Renee Ballantine from Razors Edge Hair & Beauty, Bulahdelah.

Her friend James Perry will also have his head shaved on the day.

“Anyone can come down to support  us on the day,” she said.

Eilish-Rose and her mum will have a fundraising stall set up outside Coles this Saturday, 7 March  to take any donations.

She is hoping to raise $1200.
