Guest speaker was member Edith Sneyd who entertained with tales of her life in fashion.
An early career in photography and jewellery led to Edith the opening of an upmarket boutique in Inverell called Leia Fashions which was later joined by two more: “Calico” for teens and “Edit” for larger ladies.
Visiting designers for advance orders brought her a loyal following, as well as a reputation for being the go-to person for special occasions such as celebrations, anniversaries and charity raising, some with a special theme such as A Night in Paris, Easter Parade and That’s Dancing.
Edith brought along a selection of favourites she had retained to the meeting after stepping down after 20 years.
Probus members (the men as well as women) revelled in inspecting the magic created by designers such as Prue Acton, Simona, Anthea Crawford and the perennial Carla Zampatti.
There was a superb spread of accessories too; purses, jewellery, belts and scarves, as well as a huge album recording events and personalities connected with Leia Fashions.
Julia Redlich told News Of The Area, “It was a wonderful trip down memory lane for many of our members.”
