Fire and emergency services are fiercely fighting a blaze still burning in between Raymond Terrace and Karuah. The fire is burning near the Pacific Highway at Balickera, north of Raymond Terrace.

The fire is burning intensely and is spreading quickly, generating significant amounts of smoke.

The News Of The Area team are right in the thick of it and reporting on the situation as it happens.

Helicopters are using neighbouring dams to refill water their reservoir, to drop into the fire.

Services are asking people to follow the advice of firefighters on the scene.

The Pacific Highway is open in both directions at Twelve Mile Creek following a bush fire north of Medowie Road.

Motorists are advised to exercise caution and allow additional travel time until trafficreturns to normal.

Additionally, The Bucketts Way has also reopened in both directions after a grass fire between Limeburners Creek Road and the Pacific Highway.

There are no delays to traffic in the area.

KARUAH: The Pacific Highway is now closed in both directions at Tarean Road (Swan Bay Road) in Twelve Mile Creek due to a bushfire.

Motorists are advised to delay travel or consider using the New England Highway as an alternative route.

Due to the nature of the incident there is no predicted forecast for when the road will reopen.

Emergency services and traffic crews are on scene.

Additionally the Bucketts Way remains closed between Limeburners Creek Road and the Pacific Highway in Twelve Mile Creek. Motorists can travel via Clarence Town and Seaham to Raymond Terrace.

Motorists should exercise extreme caution and allow extra travel time.

Lake Road has reopened in Kearsley in both directions between Leggetts Drive and Allandale Street afer a short closure due to a bushfire.

However the Pacific Highway remains closed between Italia Road in Twelve Mile Creek and Bulahdelah.

Motorists are advised to delay all non essential travel or consider using the following diversion:

Motorists travelling north can divert at Beresfield onto the New England Highway.

Motorists travelling south can divert onto the Oxley Highway at Port Macquarie and join the New England Highway.

Southbound motorists are also advised to travel no further than Taree as there are traffic queues outside of Bulahdelah and the town is at capacity.

The Bucketts Way is also closed at Twelve Mile Creek between Limeburners Creek Road and the Pacific Highway.

There is no forecast for when any of the roads will reopen due to the nature of the fire.

Emergency services and traffic crews remain on scene at all incidents.

Easing conditions have assisted crews fighting the fire burning on the northern side of the township of Karuah.

Residents of Limeburners Creek should monitor conditions and take advice from firefighters in the area.

Crews remain in the area and Large Air Tankers have assisted firefighters on the ground.

Residents of Karuah and Swan Bay are advised to monitor the situation closely and take advice from firefighters on the ground.

Residents of North Arm Cove and Carrington should continue to monitor the situation.

Residents of Nine Mile Creek Road and Nine Mile Creek are advised that firefighters are in the area and to take advice from those firefighters on the ground.

Pacific Highway remains closed.

Medowie Road has reopened in both directions between the Pacific Highway and Federation Drive in Medowie after a back-burning operation.

The Bucketts Way is also now open between Limeburners Creek Road and the Pacific Highway in Twelve Mile Creek following a bushfire.

Diversions have been lifted at both locations.

Motorists are advised to check with local councils for local road closures.
