While most of us see the lead-up to Christmas as a time to start easing up on our commitments and planning for the festive holidays ahead, Medowie locals Kylie Watson, Amy Le Mesurier, Kyra McGrorey-Clark, and Mark Newton have been devoting their free time to training for their BF assessment.

“We are all glad to be part of such a great team orientated Brigade”, said Ms Le Mesurier.

“Now I’m looking forward to being able to join the crew on a call-out and get my shiny new uniform dirty”, she laughed.

Vital to their training was crew member Garry Higgs who gave his time and expertise to train the new recruits.

“Learning to work as a team is very important”, says Mr Higgs.

“I’m happy to have been able to mentor our new members and pass on the skills that I have learned over the last 8 years. They will be a valuable asset for our day crew”.

The Brigade now has 30 plus active members and attends three to four call-outs a week ranging from bushfires and structure fires, motor vehicle accidents through to community education and school visits.
