Futsal players to represent Medowie at National Futsal School

A GROUP of talented Futsal players from Medowie are heading to Australia’s biggest school futsal event.

Held during the first week of October in Brisbane across various sporting complexes.

Ashton Morrissey, playing in the U11s division, told News Of The Area, “I can’t wait to get out on the court and represent NSW and Medowie in my first schools competition. “

“It’s going to be awesome.”

The tournament will have 170 teams from all states across Australia, 1600 players, and a contingent of 4000 coaches, managers and supporters.

Dane McKimm, playing in the U8s division, said, “I am excited to go to see what players from other states play like.”

For teams there is the chance to represent their state or region and become Australian champions.

For individual players, there is also the chance of being selected to represent Australia on an International Tour.

Hayley Moore, playing in the U16s and later in the week in the U19 Youth Women’s divisions, started playing at the age of 11 as a way of keeping fit for outdoor soccer in the off season She has since quit outdoor soccer to focus on Futsal.

Hayley told News Of The Area, “You can really tell the players who only play outdoor soccer and those who play Futsal regularly, it’s a totally different game.”

The Medowie Futsal Centre has just started their summer competition in this increasingly popular sport at Medowie Christian School every Tuesday to Thursday.
