Through selling her beautiful crochet items including neck warmers, beanies, drink bottle carriers, hot water bottle covers and mobile phone carriers, she has raised an impressive $1,000 for RFS Fingal Bay.

Last year she donated a whopping $5,000 to Surf Life Saving who put the money towards a new sand buggy which she took a ride in when it was delivered.

June told News Of The Area, “I remember un-pulling old jumpers which people had given to me so I could use the wool; now everyone knows what I do, I have plenty of wool to keep me going for a long time.”

June is an amazing 99-year-old lady, who still holds a full, unrestricted driving license, got her first dental filling a few years ago, and, although she is starting to slow down with her crocheting, she has no intention of stopping any time soon.

“Crochet has given me so much, it gives me a purpose each day,” she said.

Initially starting with Wrap With Love 18 years ago, knitting blankets for charity, June now enjoys crochet from home at Fingal Haven.

Margaret McMillan, June’s friend and neighbour said, “June’s beanies have been sent to Scotland, Canada and New Zealand, she is also an accomplished potter, artist, and only gave up golf in her early 90s.”

June’s crochet is available for sale at Shoal Bay Pharmacy with all proceeds going to RFS Fingal Bay.

June would like to express her gratitude for the support, goodwill and fellowship of everyone at Fingal Haven.
